How do you hook up an OTA antenna with a Dish Network receiver?
I just got dish network and don’t want to pay for locals. I also bought an indoor OTA antenna to pick up Hd locals. Besides connecting the coax cable is there anything else I need to configure?
Let me clarify. The dish receiver has an input for ota antenna on the back. I hooked up my ota antenna back there (via coax cable) and nada. I have no locals. HELP!

— you will just need to select a different input for whatever you ar watching. For instance on my 50 inch I have it on HDMI while watching DirectTV and DTV for ITA networks. Depending on your TV the setting name may be different.
Hook up the output of the satellite receiver to video input #1. Hook up the OTA antenna to the RF coaxial input. Switch from Video 1 and RF with the TV/Video button to either watch the satellite or the OTA channels.
You can also usually clear the other video inputs out of the TV/Video select mode, so that you just toggle between Video 1 and RF. Check your manual that came with your TV remote on how to do that.
Sounds like you’ve hooked up the antenna correctly.
I also subscribe to Dish, and hooked my OTA HD antenna to the VIP 211 receiver. After doing so, I configured the receiver to search for the local HD channels. The process took a few minutes to complete, but after it was done, voila, FREE HD channels.
