Best answer:

Answer by 9121
RG-11 is theoretically the best, but it is significantly more expensive than RG-6. For 50-60 feet, RG-6 should do the job just fine; with such lengths the difference in loss in the cable is negligible between RG-6 and RG-11.

Question by snwbrdr960: Difference between white and black coaxial for cable TV and internet?
Is there any difference between the old black coaxial cable and the new white coaxial cable they use now. I want to run cable out to the garage and the neighbor has a spool of black wire but I also want to hook up internet and they usually install the white coaxial these days and don’t want to run the black coaxial if it isn’t going to work the best for internet applications. Are they differenet grades of wire? What should I be looking for to run internet? Or will the black coaxial be fine?

Best answer:

Answer by DIY Doc
Color.

More obvious might be cable with STATED designations in application.

I have the standard cable coaxial cable running from my wall to the TV. Well I would like to the coaxial cable signal into a RCA or AV signal so that way i could run the pic of the tv and the red and white cable for some speakers I have. Any suggestions?

Best answer:

Answer by Ten Years Gone
Well, you can buy a converter, but if your TV is newer than 15 years it probably has a pair of audio outs. Just hook the RCA cables from the TV to the stero TV (or Aux) in.

or this site will have a converter www.svideo.com

Question by PPwallawalla: How do I run coaxial cable in a old home?
Hello,

I am wondering how I run coaxial cable through out a home that has never had coaxial cable before. Is there such a thing as an outlet cover that contains a CAT6 port, coaxial port and two power outlets or something similar?

Thank you!

Best answer:

Answer by Deamer1
To run the coaxial cable through the house….it’s not impossible, but it can be some work to do a nice neat high quality job. The physical part you need to study.

The electrical part as to what type of jacks, plates, Cat 5, Cat 6, etc exist. This is my suggustion.
Do not go to any Consumer store and try to get the item needed. The reason is they do not supply what you really need, and you’ll end up with a “make do” improper install.

Suggestion: Go to your local Electrical Parts/Wire Distributor. That’s the same place all your local electricians purchase their wire, boxes, outlets, outlet covers, etc.

They will have multiple catalogs from their suppliers and can show you what each has available. From my experience: you will begin to see items which you didn’t know existed. Use the experience, and complete your install like a professional. You’ll like it when you complete. it.

The answer to your last question is: Yes, but you have to find who can supply you with it.

Good luck and may the good lord take a liken’ to ya’
