Who We Are

We are defining the best TV experience in the world through a compelling mix of content, technology and service. We’ve contributed to the evolution of TV with our HD programming, interactive features, digital video recorder (DVR) services, quality customer service, and electronic program guide (EPG).

Content

Each day, DIRECTV subscribers enjoy access to over 265 channels of 100% digital picture and sound, exclusive programming and the most comprehensive collection of sports programming available anywhere, including NFL SUNDAY TICKET™ and MLB EXTRA INNINGS®. We offer access to quality programming delivered to homes, airports, hotels, restaurants, hospitals, office buildings, airplanes, automobiles and portable electronics. We even produce our own entertainment programming—Hometown Heroes, Supreme Court of Comedy, Passions, Championship Gaming Series and others. DIRECTV also leads the digital television technology revolution with exclusives such as NFL SUNDAY TICKET™ SuperFan™, US Open Interactive and YES Network Interactive. DIRECTV currently offers the most HD channels now, and soon the capacity for over 200 HD channels.†
</sup>
Technology

Many of our more than 16,000 employees operate our broadcast centers on the ground, monitor our satellites in space and deliver industry-leading service and value. As an all-digital platform, we were the first to deliver an interactive on-screen program guide and Pay Per View ordering by remote control. Our innovations have led to six Emmy® Awards and hundreds of filings for US patents as we’ve introduced must-have technologies to the viewing experience.

Service

For the ninth year in a row, DIRECTV scored higher in customer satisfaction than cable companies measured in the American Customer Satisfaction Index.* More than half of our employees primarily work to deliver the highest level of service to our customers, whether they call 1-800-DIRECTV, work with one of our installers or manage their accounts online at directv.com. We want our customers to rely on us to meet their needs effectively and professionally.

Our Employees

An entrepreneurial spirit is alive in all that we do, reinforcing our values of leadership, innovation, decisiveness, agility, teamwork and integrity. Our employees’ diverse talents and life experiences generate the ideas that continue to drive the company forward, ahead of vour competitors. Their pride and enthusiasm is vital to each and every job across more than one dozen U.S. locations. Thanks to their abilities and innovative thinking, DIRECTV is competitive in a rapidly changing industry.

DISH Network Corporation is a leader in satellite TV, providing approximately 13.61 million subscribers (December 2009) with the highest quality programming and technology at the best value. DISH Network gives its customers access to the most HD channels and international channels in the U.S., state-of-the-art interactive TV applications and award-winning HD and DVR technology. A Fortune 250 company, DISH Network employs more than 26,000 people across the country and has annual revenues of nearly $12 billion.

DISH Network is the offspring of EchoStar Satellite L.L.C., a satellite TV equipment distributor founded by CEO Charlie Ergen, his wife Candy and their friend Jim DeFranco in 1980. In 1987, EchoStar filed for a Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) license with the FCC and in 1992, was granted access to orbital slot 119° West Longitude. With the successful launch of the EchoStar I satellite in December 1995, EchoStar established the DISH Network brand name in early 1996 and began providing a wide array of programming to consumer homes. Since then, EchoStar and DISH Network launched a number of satellites to accommodate the companies’ rapid growth, and count 14 owned and leased satellites in their shared fleet.

In January 2008, EchoStar and its DISH Network subsidiary split into two separate companies, DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH) and EchoStar Corporation (NASDAQ: SATS). EchoStar Corporation now serves as a key technology partner to DISH Network Corporation, providing the company with award-winning set-top boxes and other TV technology that helps DISH Network continue to offer the ultimate TV experience to its customers.

Throughout its 29-year history, DISH Network has demonstrated its entrepreneurial spirit by achieving significant industry firsts:

First company to offer a satellite receiver for less than $200

First to develop a UHF remote control

First to offer an Integrated Receiver Descrambler (IRD) for C-band satellite TV

First nationwide installation network dedicated solely to satellite TV systems

First to offer satellite receiver with built-in digital video recording

First satellite TV company to offer local channels to local markets in all 50 states

First in the pay-TV industry to transmit all standard and high definition programming in the MPEG-4 Advanced Video Coding Standard

First to offer an MPEG4 multi-room high definition and digital video recorder satellite receiver

First to offer high definition programming in 1080p

First to launch a programming package in the U.S. designed specifically for Mexicans with DishMEXICO

Only pay-TV provider to offer converter boxes as a solution for those affected by the digital transition

First to offer digital-to-analog converter box with DVR functionality
